To be fair, Greenday draw from a very retro sound as well. I know it's not cool to like them because they are 'mainstream' and all that, but they pull heavily from old UK punk (The Buzzcocks etc). BYOP had a more US garage sound than someone like the Pistols. Greenday get a lot of shit from hipsters but they are punk, they are just punk that knows how to write a tune (as bands like the Buzzcocks did) and this makes them accessable.

totally agree, except for rancid and nofx. those have some kinda different vibe from the rest of the bands you've mentioned.
