CuttingEdge sat down with Ian Williams, the weird and neurotic guitar and keyboardplayer of Battles. Doped or drunk, we don't know. Maybe he just missed some sleep, but his words did come out in a strange way. Definitely when talking about the band called Belgium.

He's an idiot for not getting caught up in the highest-charting rock when he was like, 22? I loved Nirvana, but they weren't the type of band experimental rock guitarists in their early-mid 20s dropped everything for... I imagine they were too radio-friendly and accessible for Ian. Grunge became a fad, fashion accessory and music industry trend... remember that. Ian has always "reached for the stars" with musical projects. He experiments with sounds/arrangements for the sake of instrumental art

Ian is an old friend of mine - this is typical of the banter that took place between songs during Telecorps sessions, it's just Ian being himself - and I'm glad he voiced his opinion on Nirvana because I felt the same way at the time it sucks I never got to play with him more, but I had a lot of fun when I did ;)

i agree with his opinion concerning Nirvania. i hope Battles can figure out how to move on without Braxton.

At the end he says ''don't break up'' and in 2010 Tyondai left the band. Does that mean that problems dated from at least 2007? damn!
