Bathory "Blood on ice" with intro

Lyrcis:

The old Crow's cry the first warning

The rumbling frozen ground the last.

Hooves thundering on the three feet snow,

The icy dawn yet to begin.

Bursting through the icy morning four times five black shadows ahorse.

Steel glimmering in the awakening sun's light,

And blood colours the white snow red.

Cries echo through the dark deep woods.

Open wounds steam in the cold morning air,

And the new day was greeted with a burden

both raped and dead.

Long scalps hung by the old twin headed Beast's standard black.

Women and children brought far north into the land of no turning back

The burning village spread by the wind across the tundra

Cry old Crow cry.

Long tall beautiful people fallen lifeless to the ground

Headless scattered still graceful bodies.

Blood coloured the white snow all around.

Through the dark deep woods to the mountains towering to the sky

The wind carries the quest for revenge and the tale of Blood on Ice.

The Eternal deep dark Woods...

Late daytime...

["Fifteen years have passed. Living among the animals. Learning to read the]

[signs in bark and snow. Never forgetting the sights that morning in the]

[village all those years ago. Pain from inside. Transforming him.]

[Thus he had grown into a Man of Iron..."]

@chiaromontestephen stabbed fans in the back? sorry, but fuck the fans. the needs of the band's creative output come first. that would be retarded for a band to keep the same sound just because thats what OTHER people want to hear. im not saying metallica didnt sell out, maybe they did, but dont ever expect a real artist to keep releasing what the fans want. they should write the kind of music they want to write and fuck everyone else. however, if money influenced the change then fuck them.

@bbeboutuaa you have to understand something first. He started in 1989, but he was going from Blood Fire Death which did have some viking influences, but was primarily black metal. If he released it in 1989 or '90, people would question what he was doing.

@bbeboutuaa i agree people overuse the word sell-out but i must say metallica did indeed sell out. they made 4 incredible thrash albums in the 80s. then they basically stabbed their fans in the back by releasing shitty alternative rock albums for years. just because load and reload sold a lot less copies than the black album doesn't mean they didn't sell out. they still turned their backs on all the fans that supported them from the beginning.

quorthon is in my eyes the only artist who truly caught the viking feel in his music

People overuse the term sell-out way too much. People say Metallica sold out when they did the exact opposite. They sued the record company so they didn't have to produce what the record company wanted. we got Load and Reload out of that, which sold waaaayyyyyyy less than the black album. So how did they sell out??? Quorthon was just expressing himself through his music. Blood on Ice was recorded in 1989 but not released until 1996 be cause he felt it was too much of a shift in genre.

@bookworm1138 certainly, but i think you misunderstood the abstract meaning of the word 'sell-out'. a sell-out because of what? you said it yourself - Quorthon (R.I.P) went thru black metal, thrash metal and viking metal, often blending together the inherent mannerisms of each style which made him unique. lol, that is too much for the idiocracy of the music industry. still pretty far from Nirvana, isn't it?

Is it wrong to listen to this album while playing "Viking: Battle for Asgard"?

@bookworm1138 That was back in a time when MTV had actual decency to their namesake.
