Hell, even mainstream pop music is getting more psychedelic and experimental. Take a huge hit like Beyonce's Single Ladies. If you know anything about music, you know that song is quite experimental. It has an E major vocal hook in the chorus with an E minor descending bass synth underneath...overtop a rhythm you'd normally hear on an Animal Collective song. You just have to stop thinking of 'mainstream' music as inherently evil or terrible. Look for the good...it's out there in spades.

I couldn't disagree more. First of all, nothing's being "shoved in your face." Who watches TV for music these days anyway? Or the radio for that matter? You have the internet, podcasts, etc. Why complain? There's a HUGE amount of good music out now. I honestly think we're in a creative renaissance on par with the late 60s and early 90s. You just have to know where to look. Animal Collective, Yeasayer, Young Magic, Goldfrapp, School of Seven Bells, Purity Ring, etc etc. Way more than that.

@emill40 Yeah there's some good stuff around of course, i also know some of the bands you,ve mentioned ..and yes its a case of personal taste..blah blah..however the stuff thats forced in your face,the meaningless wailing of empty headed bimbo media puppets and all that negative booming rap still whining on about having it hard "in the hood" (not that most of them have even been in that situation) that my friend is what i call crap!
