Completely unnecessary cover by an artist that better would stick to her own work. Terible terrible cover, hope Nissan will get bankrupt simply because of this.

Another version of Sade's big hit!

Nice. Basia and maybe Swing Out Sister are the only other artists who could do the song justice.

Why are people downing Sade over this song? Sade is good, Basia is also good.

Hi, When I heard "Time and Tide" I became an Basia fan immediately..She came to Raleigh, N.C. about 1990 and I was at the Show..When she came back to the USA three years ago, I saw her again in Virginia.. The Venue in VA was small, I don't think she had all of her band.. I enjoyed both shows.. I saw Sade in Greensboro, N.C. two years ago.. John Legend was also there..It was the best Concert that I have ever attended..Venue much bigger than Basia's in Virginia..I enjoy both of their work.

Never listened to them much. I'm more inclined to listen to things like Prefab Sprout's Two Wheels Good or Rebecca Pidgeon.

Lisa - It seems as though you have very sophisticated tastes in music, which takes a lifetime of listening to achieve. I find that to be very attractive in an intellectual way, 'cause it's actually hard work! Even though I am a 'jazz snob' most of the time, I do like other musical styles or 'fashions'. Now I might be riding on thin ice with this one...how about [the late] Frank Zappa and his son, Dweezil? They're hard to categorize, but I'm sure that's intentional. I love their creativity.

I don't appreciate commercial, corporate radio in the least. Whenever I find a jazz station I like, the FCC makes sure it gets yanked off the air as fast as it arrived. I have no interest in what others deem as classics in ANY genre in the least. i find my own classics and that's that.

Hi Lisa - Upon further investigation, [no, I'm not a cop!...] I notice you've listened to Gilberto playing in a band w/ Stan Getz - who happens to be one of my favorites, and that was recorded, well, let's say a while ago. And, I am into Bossa beats as well. Through the years my musical tastes have changed and now I listen to big band jazz almost all the time - partially because we have an Educational FM that plays nothing but mainstream jazz. It's great!

I've been a fan since 1987, and she hasn't been a disappointment once in all these years. You can't say that about too many other artists.

Lisa - you hit it right on the head. Basia has a whole boatload of substance and talent, whereas Sade tends to repeat herself a little too often. Considering her age, Ms. Trzetrzelewska still has her own beauty and she seems to be a charming friend to many people, particularly the people in the bands she has put together. I would like to hear her play live, I'm sure it's a good show. Keep on listening to her, and I'll do the same!

Ignore that butthole. I like Sade to some degree, but she is not a very good singer. She has her good looks to fall back on. Her music has declined, but Basia has never disappointed me yet. I will take substance over fashion and looks any day.

I like the Bossa touch on this...excellent reinterpretation. This is not just a cover of Sade's version.

I think everything Basia sings is beautiful and brilliant and although I feel she is a better singer than Sade, I have to say Sade is perfect on this song. Her delivery is so laid back that the words float on air to your ears. It could also be that the instrumentation of Basia's version gives the song a feeling of a gallop and doesn't glide as Sade's does. Sometimes it even comes down to which version you heard first.
