Barry Mann (born Barry Imberman, 9 February 1939, Brooklyn, New York) is an American songwriter, and part of a successful songwriting partnership with his wife, Cynthia Weil. In 1961, Mann hit the Top 40 as a performer with a novelty song co-written with Jerry Goffin, "Who Put The Bomp", which parodied the nonsense words of the popular doo-wop genre.

Also gets a lot of airplay on Oldies radio. Big thanks to Oldies radio for keeping the music alive which preceded my era (Classic Rock).

It's fair to speak for my late mother who grew up with the era of music this is from, to say they don't make music like this anymore. Lost classic from the early 1960s.

Don't care for the spoken word at the end but other than that, it's a good tune.

Love the song, but a funny aside: One evening my wife & I were driving home through Livermore, California on Highway 580; we were listening to this on Pandora & singing along; as we were singing the final 'spoken' parts "(2:23 the bottom of my boogidy boogidy shoes"), a Big Rig that's driving next to us started to merge into our lane. For a split second we both thought it was 'curtains' for us, but we manage to evade being squashed...Needless to say, hearing this song makes quite an impression on us; It would have been a heck of a way to go, singing a classic doo wop song at the top of our lungs...
