This is fucking amazing. The clean echoey vocals remind me of Agalloch, and the Piano/screams reminds me of Dark tranquility. A little bit of Maiden thrown in there too for sure. Thanks for uploading!

This was easily one of my favourite albums from last year. Brilliant tune!

@mickeydeebassman it sounds like Opeth meets Iron Maiden is what I meant to say

I am opeth meets Iron Maiden, the beginning riff sounds a bit like new maiden

@HayabusaNoTsuchi ...(second reply). Also, the original Black riff in debate has a longer run than this one just before the harmonics, there are also a few chords embedded in the Black version. But yeah it does sound similar. It's only one riff though, I think it still sounds great, since there are many other sounds on this album and song.

@HayabusaNoTsuchi Yeah I guess other songs have nothing to do with it, but it does fit the rest of the album well, and the riffs on this album are fit for this sound. I don't think it's a rip off if the same guys who wrote the Black Winter Day riff also wrote this one, because they probably created that progression. I just meant that there are similar notes in the progressions but they are tossed around a bit and made into something new.

@Megadedly So if you agree that it uses the same progressions, how can you still say it doesn't sound the same? That's a complete contradiction. I shouldn't have to argue the absolute FACT that this song's intro guitar section is almost exactly the same as the keyboard part at the end of "Black Winter Day." Second, it's very poor logic to assume I've neither heard nor own this album. Also, even if I didn't, the rest of the songs on this album have nothing to do with this argument.

@HayabusaNoTsuchi ...(third reply). At least on Cosmogenesis. Omnivium doesn't sound much like Necrophagist anymore.

@HayabusaNoTsuchi ...(second reply). And with ex-Amorphis members, I would expect to hear a little Amorphis in Barren Earth. It's just like Necrophagist and Obscura.

@HayabusaNoTsuchi I just said it doesn't sound anything like that song, and as I said, sure it might have some similar progressions, but it is original. If you own this CD and listened to it all, you would know what I'm trying to say. There is a bit of Opeth influence in here as well, and considering Mikael is inspired from Camel, and theres a Camel tribute member in Barren Earth, it's kind of cool to see which areas they take inspiration from the same band.

@Megadedly A quick judgement? You said they didn't sound anything alike.

Megadedly

@HayabusaNoTsuchi Lol uh, alright. Say what you will, but I do have an ear for music, and someone that claims to have should hear that they aren't identical. I never said that there weren't any similar progressions, so don't jump to make such a quick judgement.

@Megadedly I'm sorry, but you clearly have no ear for music. The progressions and notes are virtually identical.

@cageofman Amorphis and Swallow The Sun members.

@HayabusaNoTsuchi Doesn't sound anything like it to me. It's bound to sound Amorphis-ish with Amorphis members. And one from a Camel tribute band. Theres hints of Camel in here as well.
