I always saw it as we don't need to strive or struggle to win the love of God, while we are sinful does that necessarily mean that we are incapable of doing good? Are we not capable of changing?

none of us does, but he wanted to save us because of his bountiful grace. there's no point on bashing on how undeserving we are because it's a given. none of us is worth his son dying for us, but he loved us enough to do it, so there's only rejoicing left to do!
