This version of a Buddy Johnson 1945 composition is a brilliantly heartfelt interpretation of a remarkable soul/blue's love song as only Barbra Streisand can do it.

Barbra just emotes with every fibre of her being and it all comes out in her voice...Wonderful.

This particular track is taken from a 4CD set entitled 'Barbra Streisand - Just for the record'.

It is a massive collection of 90 songs and events recorded live and in the studio - and is a 30 year celebration of her life with a 56 page double booklet containing pictures and comments from Barbra....A history (maybe I should say HERstory) it includes a home recording of Barbra singing at the age of 15 - her mum singing the first few bars of 'Secondhand Rose' before fading into Barbra taking over.

It is a remarkable addition to any Barbra Streisand fan's collection.

This is Lenny Welch's song, but absolutely the best song I have ever heart Barbra sing! She hits that high (I think it a high B flat) and it is superb. She is so bad on many songs, because she doesn't enunciate well, puts an "h" in front of her vowels, and 'pushes' her breath. But on this song, no one does better! THANKS FOR POSTING THIS, I will return to listen to this again, it is so amazing!

I know Lenny Welch made it a hit but Barbara took it to new heights

No one can top this. Streisand has always had the uncanny ability to take even the most popular of song, and not only make it her own, but the definitive version as well.

Two different (but subtle) vocal versions, this one and the one on the "Barbra Joan Streisand" album, listen to the looooong note she holds on this version (from the box set) that's not on the BJS album.

A voice like no other. Truly unique. Truly her own. There will never be another like her. Not before. Not after. She has inspired everyone that has come after.

As usual, perfection. Barbra is truly a "legitimate singer" ....she sings, not whines like so many of the new vocalists. Great upload!

Next to Lana Cantrell's followup to Lenny's 1963 version this is the best.

That G5 at 2:47 gets me every time. What an incredible performance by Barbra.

What's there to say - other than with a voice like Barbara's, every song she sings comes out right and just takes your breath away!

I'm a big fan of Barb, but Lenny Welch has the # 1 version.

Sometimes less is more. Lenny still does it the best for me.

Oh Barbra you definitely have the best voice in the entire world, no one can compare with the depth and emotion you bring to each and every song you have ever sung.

I have a copy of this song collection. I cherish the one of Barbra singing with Judy Garland. I think that's available on YouTube also.

In the 50's Lenny Welch was the Best and most poplar. I loved it...So many teens falling in love and out, braking up, just fit in with those teen years.
