Damn, I remember Barbara Mandrell from the 1970s, when I was a kid growing up in the South. I recall her as a beautiful singer, but had no idea that she was technically proficient on the pedal steel, which is pretty much the hardest instrument a country band has.

I've never thought about playing the steel guitar (although I do play a very mediocre rhythm guitar, usually acoustic). Now that I think about it, how do you keep from playing more than one string at the same time on steel guitar? Is the technique similar to the "stand-up" regular guitar? Now I'm curious and I might troll eBay to buy one... :) Thanks!
