Barbara Fairchild is best known for her 1973 hit "The Teddy Bear Song". Fairchild started her country music singing career at the age of 15, and continued to have regional hits. Between 1970 and 1972 she had four top 40 hits.

"The Teddy Bear Song" from the album 'A Sweeter Love', became Fairchild's only #1 song on the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart. It became a modest hit reaching #32 on the Billboard Hot 100
