There is no "real metal", only good quality, and bad quality metal. Bal-Sagoth is epic, unique, gives you the chills if you're into fantasy/sci-fi and is one of the best complex, intelligent metal band that exists on this planet atm. Only 3-4% of metal bands are really good, but people have low standards, or shitty taste and imagination. Or they just wanna jump around and headbang on a simple riff. I wish Bal-Sagoth makes a proper live with orchestra, i would sell my house to experience that.

their sound is way too complex for live, IMHO. the synths are very complex on albums, they should play with a real orchestra to bring it across! :)

It doesn't matter how much I like Bal-sagoth, have to admit that they're not great live band :/ Or maybe it's just your crappy recorder?

@flex0rz2 Errr... mate, Bal-Sagoth happen to be one of the greatest acts to come out of Brittan. 6 albums and a dedicated loyal fanbase. The synths are what help make it a unique sound!! If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Simple, really...

Does the ??? mean you're unsure of which song they played? In that case I can tell you it's Atlantis Ascendant, and the intro I believe is Black Dragons Soar Above the Mountain of Shadows. Man, I wanna see Bal-Sagoth live so bad. Indeed one of the bands highest up on my list of "must-sees".
