Lyrics:

There’s a leak in this boat

Someone toss me a rope

And a headrest for my, headrest for my soul

There’s a leak in this boat

How the hell will I float

With this headrest for my, headrest for my soul

I got a headrest for my, headrest for my soul

Let the whispers unfold

And darling do what you’re told

Headrest for my, headrest for my soul

If the hospital burns

If it’s really my turn

How the hell will I, How the hell should I learn

There’s a leak in this boat

Someone toss me a rope

And a headrest for my, headrest for my soul

Give me that headrest for my, headrest for my soul

You know I got a headrest for my, headrest for my soul

For everyone who's wondering, the "go" in the beginning is intentional.

He's slowly sinking, filling up with water [read negative emotions] (Tears maybe..? Perhaps not that literal.) And is going to drown in themAsking for help (Someone toss me a rope) because he can't go for much longer without the aforementioned sinking, and he needs someone to help him. Perhaps him being on the boat is a metaphor for him seeing himself (and maybe everyone) as always having to avoid the water? This would be an appropriate metaphor, as it can show how difficult it becomes to stay afloat above the water when it gets stormy (Bad things happening in life). Then you can also speak about the difference in stability in any one persons boat and that attaching 2 boats together would increase that stability; and the more you had the more stable everyone would become (such as with friends and support networks in life). Following the metaphor often bad weather will break this group of boats apart along the weakest bonds, leaving all of the pieces smaller increasing the dependency on the bonds you do have, and therefore strengthening them or breaking them.Certainly it can become a very 'deep' metaphor in the sense of how many layers it has, even to the point of having as many layers and being stretched as far as each individual cares to think about it, though they seem to get more tenuous the further you go in. Regardless, if this is what was intended then I think it's rather clever how it can be used to demonstrate more than a couple abstract concepts regarding the dangers of loneliness, isolation, and the necessity of closeness with others. I would like it to be true. And then him asking for a headrest for his soul as well, says to me a need for a space where he can feel relaxed and safe and warm and not need to worry. In this way I think he's talking about home. His home. Whatever it may be, whether it's a person, a group of people, or a place. Some place that makes him feel calm. I haven't yet thought of a way this fits into the metaphor, maybe someones boat in particular I think(?) he's a married man, perhaps this is a song about how much he needs and appreciates his wife's support or if not it could be the support of anyone important to him. Or, perhaps it simply doesn't fit into the metaphor/the metaphor is wrong.Though, this it just a theory I had. I don't even think it's very likely, but I liked the thought

Headrest for my Soul? So he's feeling horny and wants to rest his head on a pair of boobs. And I'm assuming the "leak in the boat" lyric is a reference to ejaculation?

Why are people making a big deal about the "go" in the beginning

I love you. I love you so much. <3 Like, not as in I find you entertaining, but as in I literally love you. I love your mind, I love your heart, I love your soul. And I know you'll never read this but I just want to put it out there.

I feel like this song could be interpreted many ways, but I think the most obvious is that the song is about suicide. I absolutely interpreted it that way."There's a leak in this boat" could mean that his life is slowly falling apart. The boat represents his life and the waters he's sailing represents the journey he's made so far and the journey ahead of him. However, the leak is slowly ending his journey, and it's only a matter of time until it's over. The leak could represent something (or things) that is affecting his life, which leads to the next verse."Someone toss me a rope" implies that he's going to commit suicide. This fits in with the boat thing in the sense that he doesn't want his life to end slowly. If it's gonna end anyway, it might as well end now. Instead of waiting for the boat to sink, (his life to slowly come to a close), he's going to end it now. This leads to the next verse..."And a headrest for my soul" could mean that he wants his soul to rest in peace. Even though he ended his journey early, he wants to ensure that his soul will be put to rest properly.Wow, that's the first time I've done a song analysis. Pretty sure I got some of that right.
