first rich mullins then helen baylor !!!! the message to this song is awesome... so many across america started singing just the chorus & broke into kirk franklins' style in the early & middle 2000s... but nevertheless still i don't think any other version can compare to this original version because it's scriptural & it's talking about Jesus soon return... i have yet ear to hear this version sung by someone else in these great terrible times to let folks know that not only God is awesome because we sing it... but because he really kept us through dangers seen & unseen... every time that song ends the darkness runs & hide because it knows that light is on its territory.... when i first heard that song back in the early 90s when i was a little kid it was something about that song that stayed with me even more than the other gospel/christian songs that ended in minor/sharp keys... i would get gooses bumps & chills... i use to think about the chorus part... it would use to make me think of why the song ends like that... but now i see... mainly to Jerusalem.... the Israelites.... the ones who end songs no matter what they sing ends in minor/sharp chords... i know that felt real good to add that song all the way into they're worship songs... lets help get the message back into this great awesome song across the nation again so that all nations would see how awesome our God is... GLORYYYY!!!!
