"Ave maria" was composed by Franz Schubert in 1825 as part of his Opus 52, a setting of seven songs from Walter Scott's popular epic poem The Lady of the Lake, loosely translated into German.

I have watched so many amazing singers, Luciano Pavarotti, Maria Callas, Andrea Bocell, Celine Dion, Celtic Woman, Helene Fischer, Plácido Domingo, Sarah Brightman and Mirusia Louwerse at Andre Rieu's show singing this beautiful song.
