actually beau is much more than you think. He's the manager, driver, roadie, and morale booster

I'm glad there is video evidence of Avail at the Beat Kitchen. This show was incredible on so many levels. I still have the hoodie I ended up buying at this show because of the huge drop in temperature from when I showed up and after the show had ended. Not one person I met at the show still lives in Chicago, bleh.

Lucky enough to see them 3 times on their UK tour in 2003 i think it was. Absolutely blew me away each time, great great band.

@raymarkhamyarsongs haha, "kid" Easy there son, I'm probably old enough to be your daddy. It's great that they keep their friends around...that's what you're supposed to do with friends. I just don't exactly understand why they need a "cheerleader" Seems a little pointless.

I love Avail, and even more Tim Barry solo....but I gotta ask what's the deal with the dude on stage just hanging out and showing everybody what the words are? It's kind of annoying. It's like he wants to be the singer...but he's not good enough, so they just let him hang out. It's actually kind of distracting. Sorry dude, but there is no need for you.

i'm with gibbo below. music doesn't need to be intellectualized. it's subjective. get over it. for what it's worth, i think avail are one of the most incredible bands ever.

The trouble is the salesmanship behind the MCR or Decaydance/Drive-Thru bands. The trouble is when the people on the other side of the till branded the recent Kerrang approved onslaught they forgot to add the "pop" suffix (emo-pop right?) which is odd as they've emo'd/screamo'd/hardcore'd until practically every new band that emerges has its own vague and audience dividing sub-genre. Its good music, but, Avail are incredible.

I agree. . .kind of. I agree in the fact that i'm not sure when emo changed, but I would say 4% percent of these "emo" kids even know about Ian Mackaye and 'emotive punk-rock'and that 95% percent of people when they refer to emo are referring to the teenage soap opera bullshit that we get now, and they listen because they want someone to confirm that they have a difficult existence so they can be looked at as interesting. Having said that, Emo sucks and Avail is not it.

"i would rather be stabbed 100 times in the head than listen to these homos they give punk a bad name" Come to Richmond and it will be arranged.

superb... would sell a leg to see Avail live. also for what its worth I would file Avail under emo (ditto for HWM) - I'm not sure at what point emo's attributes changed from emotional/personal references and passionate delivery to strictly a category for any collective of pretty boys in eyeliner singing about girl trouble and furthermore who said punk had to be fast (ever heard of The Clash?)... Anyway... great vid.
