As Earth slid out of my viewport I felt something rise inside me. Anger? Sorrow? Both? I guess I will never know. One thing I did know was that now my home, my way of life, was burning away below me. I was leaving more than my home. I left myself, my Earth, my life. Death came to millions, yet even though I was alive, I didn't feel that way. So as we left a home smoldering behind us, enveloped by the nuclear fallout of war, I said my farewell, to everything I ever loved. So long Earth. Farewell to you Moon. Goodbye Sol, sun of life. I will return one day

This reminds me of the story of the Defender video game. In it a race of alien bugs called the manti attacked Earth forcing mankind to Mars to regroup but they so find that was only the first swarm the second drove mankind to farthest reaches of the Sol System. Mankind rallied and fought back reclaiming world after world until throwing everything they had to reclaim Earth, But sadly it was too late the Manti Queen had already laid the eggs of the 3rd swarm in the Earth's crust. With no other option Mankind was forced to destroy Earth by ramming the moon into it before the eggs could hatch.

Earth, the motherland has became a distant memory written in history books. Nothing more than a story told to children at bed time. To some it is very real while to others it's nothing more than a glimpse of what once was. The great ship never stopped the search for hundreds of years, but still earth likes were nowhere to be found simply, because earth is unique...

FICTIONAL STORY: If in the next couple decades we can travel through space in the future. Aliens begin to attack Earth forcing us to abandon it and i could just imagine getting on the last ship to space and looking back to see the world being destroyed.

This song reminds me of the funeral scene in Thor: The Dark World. Not that the music sounds the same, but just the same feeling of remembering and honoring, with beautiful vocals and score. And how it gets more powerful at the end of the songs. And even the titles - "Farewell to Earth" and "Into Eternity" (Asgard).
