On this day in 1971 {September 3rd} "Indian Summer" by Audience entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart for a five week stay, peaking at #74... It was the group's only record to make the Top 100 chart... The song was track one from side one of their 1971 LP 'The House On The Hill'...

The House on the Hill is simply amazing, followed closely by thier second release, Friend's Friend's Friend. Their first lp, simply titled Audience (black cover on Polydor) is also great. The magic of the band members together is reflected on all 4 of their lps, and while Howard Werth is a fantastic singer and songwriter, something got lost with the Moonbeams lp. I'm grateful for the 4 proper Audience lps: Thank you, Howard and company.

As far as albums go, I'd stack up the 1st side of House on the Hill against any album side ever recorded. Simply brilliant.

This was a standard on radio station KDF in Nashville in the early seventies. Bought both albums ("The Houe on the Hill" and "Lunch"). Replaced them on cd and still listen to them to this day. How could they make such good rocking music without electric guitars? Also try out "You're Not Smiling". I didn't get the thrill however from Howard Werth and the Moonbeams.

A Radio Luxembourg Powerplay....Why didn't this chart ??. Still got the vinyl 45. If I ever get my turntable down from the loft this will be one of the first to blow out the cobwebs....
