I used this song for comparing my two budget styluses, AT95E (about 10 hours used) and Ortofon OM3E (about 20 hours) on 2M body. Sure, both carts are aligned the same way. Anyway, it is a pretty interesting release from Tony Esposito, enjoy and judge for yourself :)

The AT95E's limitations are almost entirely due to it's stylus.....a .4 x .7 mil elliptical....which is just about as dull and basic as an elliptical can get. Putting a hyperelliptical or Shibata on it transforms it to a $200 cartridge in terms of sound quality.

I listened to the difference in bongos...The AT seems to bring them out more.

Hey bud, your video is displaying the Ortofon 3E, mainly not just because of the shape, but the fact that it says 3E on the side of the cartridge, but your title says the 2m Red. :/ Are you going to correct this? You can easily edit your titles when you click on every one of your vids.

That is either the Ortofon OM5 or OM10. Your credibility goes down when you don't exhibit the correct cartridge.

You all know that the sound quality is base on YOUR speakers/headphones, right? Youtube compresses audio.

I'm surprised I actually hear a difference.. I prefer the 2M

The AT95E is better at the finer details, and more homogenic, but has a lower output. Therefore it sounds a bit dull directly compared to the OM3E. Turn the level for the AT up a bit, and it will beat the crap out of the OM3E.

Let’s make this scientific ;-) The Ortophon cartridge has a rated output voltage at 1000 Hz at 5cm/sec. of 4 mV while the Audio-Technica AT-95E cartridge voltage output at 1000 Hz at 5cm/sec. is 3.5 mv. What does this mean? First of all, your audio perception of the Ortophon cartridge is 20 log (Ort out/ A.T. out) or 1.16 dB higher that the Audio-Technica cartridge. You say not enough to make a difference? Well, let’s adjust the audio output of the Audio-Technica output up 1.16 dB and the compare the sonic difference – to be fair. Will this make a difference? I don’t know because “loudness” compensation comes into effect with added volume selection. From what was presented, the Ortophon sonic qualities were superior; however, we need to level the playing field to be objective in our final decision.

The ortofon sounds much better on the low end. Sounds fatter. Love it.

I heard almost no difference between them. Not worth the reds price tag.
