From their 1992 album The Red In The Sky Is Ours

Eternal, now you live a dead lie

Plague years, a walk down the trail of misery

Put fire to your soul

Set it ablaze

A lunatic music, the end of flock kingdom

Sheep, you thirst for our insanity

Windows, sharp, cold

Wrap your psyche in blankets of pain

No more light of day

We're the windows to your insanity

Screaming, roaring, we'll alter your reality

Dancing razors cut your sanity

Windows, sharp, cold

Wrap your psyche in blankets of pain

Fuck you, light of worlds

We're the windows to your insanity

Reflections in the shattered glass

Singing songs of blasphemy for your soul

Ah, I see. I am pretty sure that you can find Oracle Moon on eBay for a decent price, or at least I only got it for a few bucks back in January. Heart of the Corona, their debut, took me months to find though.

What do you mean by "not easy to come by?"

David Rosales

Somehow got around it. I must tell you I love the Gardens of Grief EP. And enjoy the first two AtG albums more than ever. Repeated listens, and coming back to it later really helps to let it sink in. Garden of Shadows is pretty cool, but I found, not easy to come by.

Pretty much similar with Satariel, but they started out as black metal. Even then Satariel doesn't come off as a melo-death band. They sound more progressive

Fair enough, I like it all too! The only part of their main discography that I do not have is the Gardens of Grief EP/Grotesque. It's been sitting up the street for <$10, I just haven't felt like buying it :P Glad we could have a civil discussion, most people just curse me out for whatever reason...

For the love I have for ATG, I still plan to give SOTS more tries in the future with a different mentality. What usually happens when I am listening to it is that halfway through I feel sort of annoyed by how repetitive it gets, specially the drumming. I'll get back to you on Garden of Shadows (cool name, btw).

Yeah, I find it odd that you feel that way (about SOTS). I have, of course, encountered others who don't like/hate it for similar reasons. It's probably the first death metal album I ever listened to, and despite its simplicity, it has really never gotten old. I don't think it's a nostalgia thing either. For a comparison, I just listened to The Gallery a few hours ago, and though I didn't listen to any DT until like a year or two ago, that album is starting to bore me, despite its complexity.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll definitely look them up. I was just complaining at the general superficiality of bands of the melodeath type, and how much they are not death metal, so I think the style does not deserve the inclusion of the word "death" in there. I'm just ranting. Also, I really think SotS is superficial and uninteresting as far as a Death Metal album goes, and it is mediocre as far as (pseudo) Melodic DM goes. I Think Heartwork and Burning Bridges outdo it by far.

So what are you getting at exactly? That something can be melodic death metal but not traditional death metal? I guess I can agree with that, but I still would consider most melodic death metal part of the umbrella term "death metal," including SOTS and Heartwork. Plus, I can give you something incredibly melodic that I think you'd agree is still death metal, though it's far from death metal in the traditional sense. Look up "Oracle Moon" by Garden of Shadows.
