i agree with the part of how great death metal is and how bad cannibal corpse is, even if six feet under is a great band. but At the gates is a technical/melodic death metal band, some songs are melo and anothers are technical death metal.14 years ago

hyär man im not knocking death metal in general dinnit get me wrong, im saying cannibal corpse suck and that straighter sided death metal has a tendancy for growls, look closely i never said it is only ever growls. im on for the death metal, cant beat bolt thrower, but you have to admit there are far less harmonies in it than in melodic like these guys, im not saying death metal is without melody fully, you misunderstood me14 years ago

Wait, wait... what now? First of all, this is tecnical death metal and not melodeath. Death metal isn't necessarily devoid of melody, and the melodies don't have to be cheesy-sounding all the time, plus death metal doesn't always have low-pitched growls as vocals. Second thing, Cannibal Corpse suck because they are a pathetic excuse for a death metal band. Listen to early Pestilence, Dismember, Bolt Thrower, mid-era Carcass and early Entombed, f.ex. You'll see how great death metal really is.14 years ago

melodic death metal, straight death metal is without so much harmony and only growling as vocals, apparently anyways. look at cannibal corpse they are straight death metal and they suck so hard, but bands like at the gates and amon amarth are good because they are melodic death metal14 years ago
