Astor Piazzolla and his Quinteto Nuevo Tango play "Lunfardo", followed by "Michaelangelo 70" live for Radio Caracas Televisión in 1984. While there is no audience, this is considered a live performance because Astor Piazzolla and the band had just left the hotel, came to the studio, performed and immediately left for the airport - there was no time for rehearsals or second takes. Moreover, all the equipment used for the recording had arrived the day before and was not tested prior to the recording. Since Piazzolla did not rehearse, the audio mix was done on the fly.

Announcer: Carlos Fraga

The Quinteto Nuevo Tango consists of:

Astor Piazzolla - Bandoneón

Fernando Suárez Paz - Violin

Pablo Ziegler - Piano

Oscar López Ruiz - Electric Guitar

Héctor Console - Double Bass

(Forgive the fairly low quality and occasional video glitches, the source for this video is a U-Matic tape that has been stored for over 20 years. Moreover, this is one of the first programs recorded in stereo for Venezuelan television.)

@SwiftFoX25 WAV ended up rather large, so I encoded the DVD to FLAC, instead. The download link is now in all the descriptions, split up into the original sections of the tape, which is broken up for commercial breaks. The track order should be in the tags of each of the files. Enjoy!

@Maloficio I can probably extract a WAV, but it would be from the DVD copy of the U-Matic tape, since that is all I have currently (the original file is in Venezuela at the moment). It would also include the introductions you can see in some of the videos I uploaded. Do you still want it?

@BlackbirdRabbit Could you share audio copy, perhaps a lossless WAV copy? There are very few Piazzolla concerts on video that have even remotely good sound quality. The audio on this video is suberb!

@Maloficio Look at my channel for the rest of the videos. That is all that was on the original rough production tape, the only editing I've done is to split songs up (the band started playing immediately after each one). The concert was very short, because Astor Piazzolla and the band had just left the hotel, and were going to the airport afterward - there was no time for rehearsals or a particularly long concert. All of them are, in fact, in stereo.

Lunfardo followed Michelangelo 70. Would it be possible to get a stereo copy of the complete concert?
