hmmm, the name could be romanised, i mean the 'e' probably is not pronounced 'i', like the greek word, but as in latin (as in word 'red'). besides, there are many versions of the name in many countries. astarte was the goddess of sex and war. (lol)16 years ago

i guess it is not silent, it is pronunced just like you see it, A-S-T-A-R-T-E. and the 'a' are pronounced as in 'car', not 'share' lets say. in ancient greece there was a goddess called 'astarti', so that's why i believe it pronounced that way.17 years ago
