My restoration of the Ascendancy (DOS game) Soundtrack.
When extracted from the original game data (cob-files), the audio came in 16bit mono wave file format (176kbit/s, 11khz) and had a fair share of background hum & noise & occasional crackle.
Now back in the day it wouldn't bother me, because I only had a cheap adlib and some cheap box speakers. When I played the game again after all those years it kind of struck me. Today's better audio equipment made the quality tradeoffs of earlier eras clearly audible. The soundtrack was in need for audio quality improvement!
So I tried my best to reduce the noises and eliminate the crackle, then aimed to make the audio sound more stereo, while converting the audio to 320kbit/s & 48khz.
Hopefully you like the result.
For the video I tried to show the best qualities of the game, like a little advertising campaign - yes I want a sequel of this game! ASAP! :)
Thanks for watching & listening.
