My goal is to be able to play this by the end of this year. (It's January 22 at the time of writing). So far, I can play the first Movement of the Moonlight Sonata in full, performance ready, Nocturne Opus 9 Number 2 in full, performance ready, and I'm more than 3/4ths of the way through Nocturne Opus 55 Number 1. I started my repertoire six months ago. Is learning this piece by the end of this year even a slim possibility? Any other songs I could set my sights on in case attempting this is just absurd? Thanks.(I've been playing piano for 11 months, by the way)

As good a performance as you will ever hear, the balance is wonderful Rubenstein avoids speeding up in the final section like so many other recordings I have heard but really he plays by intuition.

Once again this question arises, how could he perform such pianissimoIn the doppio movimento section there are literally 5 tones always played between the bass and melody... how does he and so many other pianists like him make such a soft sound in those instances?

I love how modest it feels. Nothing too fancy, just relying on the notes to carry the emotion.

This is one of the best pieces ever composed for piano.  Although Rubinstein's set of nocturnes ranks near the top, his Op 48 #1 isn't very good.  Truthfully, I have listened to dozens of performances of this nocturne and have yet to find one that rivals Fou Ts'ong.  I have yet to hear anyone that plays the last section the way he does.  It is so virtuosic, passionate, and polished.
