Arthur was very fond of this sad, countryish song - he recorded it at least 4 times. This is the first version, which was probably done about 1962 but stayed unreleased until the 80s.

A late comer to Arthur Alexander but I'm blown away by his voice and the lyrics, been there on more than one occasion, some people never learn.

Another great artist in the 50's when John Lennon and his friends were teen-agers. This is who Lennon got the great song of ANNA from. BTW, isn't this guy a great looking guy? I'm not even gay, but I must say that he is gorgeous.

Absolutely great song,... it's unbelievable they haven't released this in those days, when the song was taken on the tape... and the man himself, he belongs to those few singers in history we can say: they are just bigger than life to tell more truth about our fates and parts on Earth than hundreds and hundreds of other singers, I think...!

I believe this was one of Arthur's early tunes recorded at Spar studios and sold to Dot records where the voices and strings were overdubbed. I've posted what I believe to be the original undubbed track with a lost tune from Arthur. Both appeared on an obscure budget lp and were probably original masters produced by Tom Stafford. They're on youtube under "Lost Arthur Alexander Song?" If you have any further information on the origin of the songs, all info would be appreciated at my site.
