Written By Tim Moore, the song was originally released by Moore on January 12th, 1975, but two days later, Art released his version (Which did considerably better). Tim apparently tried to take Art to court on the charge of "Releasing A Copy Cat Recording". Well tell me, check out Tim's version on youtube, then this one and you tell me how they could possibly similar.

I like the Tim Moore version better, perhaps because Tim wrote it. That is, in my opinion where the real talent is, in song writing. Art has a beautiful voice but the emotion of the Tim Moore version is special. "Where I wrote I am you" What a great line, It gives me chills. One of the greatest Love songs ever written.Tim Moore thank you for this brilliant song!

The interlude is the prettiest part of the song.

I LOVE both versions of this Beautiful song. I first heard it on the old KNX FM . Art Garfunkel has the voice of an Angel, however, I always have felt that since Tim Moore wrote it, that his version was better.

Matter of personal opinion, but having listened again to both versions which were played on the radio when I was little, I prefer Art's slightly detached sounding voice. Not in love with the production though.

Listen to the original. Tim Moor. The song is very personal. Not an over the top pop record.

Listen to the writer /songwriter of this song who sings it with a special heart sadness in his voice.

Don't knock the rock

Tim Moore's is much better but not a hit in the UK.

Art has the voice for this song, but it is overproduced which makes it pale next to the Tim Moore version. The big drums are a leftover from Simon & Garfunkel's last big hits.
