It's funny, if Arnel had been the original singer to these songs and Steve tried to replace Arnel, we would all be praising Arnel and not showing Steve the respect. It's almost impossible to out perform the original.

No one will ever replace Steve and I think it would be an insult to his legacy to ever think so. I have a sort of love-hate relationship. With the idea of replacing groups that should have long since retired. You may be bringing up a whole new generation of fans. But you are stabbing in the back. Those who remember how it all started. Not hating in any way here. But I still have mixed feelings about it.

Saw them at Jones Beach this summer. The band and Arnel are awesome. I like band more with Arnel and Dean but Dean is getting himself right TG. Steve Smith is original drummer and technically better than Dean - I just like Deans passion. Arnel saved the band - made them relevant again. I'll see them every time they're in town. This is one of my favorite groups of all time. Neal is amazing guitarist and the band just seams to be really grateful for the present and enjoying themselves. I don'y miss Perry one bit and I'm sure no one n band does either. Arnels voice - and story give one goose bumps - heartbreak to heartwarming. What a freak unbelievable Cinderella story we're all witnessing! What luck for not just him but band who's passion he has helped reinvigorate. He has the voice of an Angel to me. His is as pleasant on the ears as Andrea Bocelli 's to me. He's up there with Paul Rogers, Robert Plant , Freddie Mercury. Philip Bailey, Smoky Robinson, and certainly Steve Perry - but each are either dead or their voices are..... Neal said it gives band an international appeal and it does - as an Iconic US Band they now better represent our multi ethnicity. I think Ross said it best, The band will go on as long as Arnel does. He has truly given band a second life.

Arnel may not be Steve Perry, but I'll tell you what....THIS GUY HAS ONE HELL OF A VOICE!! HE Freakin Rocks!! I haven't heard a range like his on ANYONE who can sing their ass off like he does. I could give a rats ass if he isn't Perry. If Perry never cared to get back with Journey, shit, oh well, se la vie. Arnel is the next best singer close to him. And that is what the public wants to hear. A voice that's sounds like and brings it like the old Journey we grew up listening to. That is what the fans want and are excited about!! I could listen to Arnel sing all day and any day!!! I'd pay big money to go and see them.

Both are great singers, theres no need to argue. And to think, only 70s and 80s kids will remember SP as the Journey's Vocalist, but AP is today's generation's Journey. You have to accept the fact SP is already done with Journey and there's AP to rock it again for the new generation. AP is a very down to earth man, he never claim to be as great as perry, though he is really awesome. How can you not love AP? You cant even sing as great as that. So please be careful with your words then, sing in that range and for sure you'll be fuckingly horrible.
