Aretha Franklin singing "Greatest love of all", live in Paris (1977). This song was made by George Benson, and then Aretha, between others, singed her own cover. But who really made from this song a hit was Whitney Houston. Personally I love Aretha's cover.

Look I love both but u guys can't really compare WH to Aretha when Aretha opened up doors for her peers & generations to come. I like WH voice but seriously she was just another angelic soprano, while Aretha had more to offer than that. Yes WH had range but she lacked that heavy Soul that Aretha gave us that would draw u in & spit u out. Aretha has touched all genres of music & made it her own. Idk bout ya'll but WH didn't allow herself the ability to expand her voice whereas Aretha has.

She has sung at many President inaugurations since then! Bill Clinton in 1993, she sung at his Tea Party in 1994, at Obama's 2008 inauguration! You're right... she's an ICONIC LEGEND who doesn't have to do a D*** thing or sing another D*** note until she feels like dropping another random Rose Is Still A Rose hit like she did when she was "irrelevant" in the 1990s amidst the HIP HOP BOOM and Beyoncé craze

For one, Aretha Franklin has sung blues, rock, pop, R&B, Gospel, Soul, Funk, and the list goes on! Please she's a MANY TRICK PONY WITH MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS, GRAMMIES, JUST EVERYTHING! I love Whitney but let's remember she sat in the studio listening to Aretha record many of her greats! And her mom accompanied Aretha on many of her records in the late 1960s and 1970s.... please talk about what you know about! And many people remember MANY OTHER ARETHA SONGS... peace

Question: Aye who do you think was her mentors and taught her how to be great? Answer: Aunt RERE (Aretha) along side with her mother Sisy and cousin Dionne Warwick.

What do you THINK Aretha is known for? Her cooking??? Unlike WH, Aretha actually wrote many of her songs! You don't get to be 'Queen' for nothing. You are WASTING TIME attacking the woman whose influence in itself is an Institution! You don't like Aretha is YOUR problem; I like WH and I can say OBJECTIVELY that Aretha is a BETTER artist. In addition, Aretha is not my favorite singer, I am simply defending FACTS! There is ONLY one Queen of Soul, BUT there are MANY 'The Voice'!

WH was amazing.she is known for her OWN TELENT AND HER OWN SONGS.HER OWN VOICE.i don´t like aretha at all but i amnot mean to her.she is great.i recognize her talent and her huge influence.to whitney and the rest.i don´t know much about her life and i don´t wanna know.aretha is YOUR QUEEN.there are many queens.and don´t use her personal life to humiliate her.it´s not fair.we all have problems and struggles.they are both amazing and we must respect both.at the end of the day withusstaytheirmusic

Now, I was fond of WH and I do regret her passing, BUT her tragedy will NOT make me compromise the TRUTH! If WH inspired 'Billions' that is all due to Aretha, because she was WH's BIGGEST influence! Every great singer has to pay dues to Aretha. There was nothing unique about WH other than the FACT Clive Davis chaperone her into fame and dubbed her 'The Voice', but in reality Aretha is the QUEEN and her end will not be as stale and sordid as WH's who left us with a trail of crack and rasp!

she was fine.she had some bad momente as aretha did.the fact is that whitney is brilliant and u are one of those miserable people that can't stand the truth.no matter what she did in her life she a legend and her legacy is far from what u can do in one life.

you like whitney.you just try to hide it.no matter what happened to her she will always known for her voice, her telent, her timeless song, her timeless performances....time is so irrevelant for each of us.she conquered the world in an instant.... anyway.aretha is old and she has her own struggles....

@dastaylor If Aretha takes 20 minutes to sing Amazing Grace that speaks to her brilliance because ONLY a great singer can keep an audience that long with one song. Aretha has soul NOT because she sings Soul music but because she applies the right ingredients. WH has soul but she was polished as a Pop artist which is why she was booed at Soultrain Awards as the audience thought Anita Baker was more worthy of the Soul...Award. Also Aretha wasn't a one trick pony which is why she is great.
