My daddy used to play this album religiously. These were songs that touched the soul. I used to cry listening to this. Thank God my tears are now full of joy! Youngsters (Lord that sounded old) but they have no idea what real music sounds like anymore! Its only a few.. but these lyrics! Just listen,,,

Detroit meets Newark. Cissy Drinkard Houston and the Franklin sisters doing the background big time.

one of the reasons the " never loved a man " album was such a success, was the background singers. Cissy Houston joined Erma and Carolyn franklin on this song and track 9. The Franklin sisters did the background on all other tracks. If you listen to the tracks that Erma and Carolyn are by themselves, it sounds like there are four instead of two women. they sang their butts off.

I don't care how many people cover this in the future.....nobody messing with this like Aretha. She owned this joint and sung the brakes off this piece.
