2006 - a lifetime ago. I haven't listened to this in a good while. This album really defined my generation, it seemed like everybody in my year at school had this in one format at least. There is a vein of British culture which goes from the heart of Alan Sillitoe to this album, via other legendary wordsmiths. This and The Streets' first two albums perfectly sum-up what the early 21st century is like in post-industrial, post-university-for-all, post-job security Britain. It may well be an incredibly depressing situation, but our music is the fucking best.

i feel bad for these people. idk if this is festival is in America or not but i doubt it because of that crowd. that crowd equals like the entire American fan base back here. they came to Saint Louis a couple of weeks ago and they didnt even sell out a venue half the size of a high school gym, but in the UK theyd sell out in 2 seconds. it felt really cool being 2 feet away from Alex the entire show though!
