I ha e been on and off with this band. I really liked Doomsday and never really got into their other songs. But this song and These Colours Don't Run are fucking awesome! Gonna have to dig deeper.

I think Black Blood here is a euphemism for cancer. Hippocrates proposed the human body was composed of four fundamental fluids (humours) : blood, black bile, yellow bile and phlegm. Claudius Galen was an influential Greek physician/doctor who popularised this humoural theory. He "proposed that cancer was 'trapped' black bile - static bile unable to escape from a site and thus congealed into a matted mass."
