Pretty sure it's about how women of 'a certain age' are no longer considered young & beautiful. The song is about how some women deal with losing their youthful appearance (made to feel they gotta change). Some get plastic surgery (change their faces but dont smile the same), some go back to school to finish their education (take night courses), some are left for younger women (get divorces). It's about being yourself and not letting a man dictate what feminine beauty is.All the lines about men in this song refer to the patriarchy of society.
