@lpvcrcd This is from the Karajan-conducted Fledermaus on UK Decca. If you don't have it ~~ run, don't walk.... It is the finest recording ever done of "the Bat" and with a Great Big Beautiful Gala sequence that includes this number. [R. Resnik speaking Orlovsky's lines at the end here...]

l think l have all the Fledermaus, this duo sung by invited guest is really funny and well done. They were very good friends and we can feel it.

He just plain had a nice rich voice!!!. Haven't heard this in years and then only once .. He died much too early. His English is so similar to Pinza'a, isn't it ?Thank you for posting this rare gem !!!.

The recording in question was, I think the only one in which the GALA scene was included. It's traditional for a live performance of DIE FLEDERMAUS to have some singers brought in for the "party" scene in Act 2 to perform songs or arias from other operas. I've seen a couple of perfoprmances on television of DIE FLEDERMAUS, one of which the party scene comprised the trio of Suitherland, Horne and Pavarotti doing their party pieces

Sorry. You said that this was from Die Fledermaus. You said "guests". From which GALA scene are you talking about?

Can you expand on that question?

This was taken from the famous recording of DIE FLEDERMAUS which included the GALA Scene. It's great fun. Others who appeared as "guests" (all of whom were DECCA artists) included Bjoerling, Corena, Berganza, Welitsch, Leontyne Price, Sutherland, Nilsson and Del Monaco
