Watch in HD!!! This is a cover of 'Masamune' by Periphery. Its off of their newest record titled 'Periphery II: This Time It's Personal'! I'm a huge fan of Periphery! I bought this record soon after if came out, and I am completely obsessed with it... I think that every song on the album is absolutely amazing. My first video I uploaded to Youtube was a cover of 'New Groove', which is one of Periphery's intros. I have wanted to do another Periphery cover for some time now. So here it is!!! This song is REALLY fun to play! It grooves really hard, and I love the short solo section on the drums towards the end.

I didn't play this tune completely hit for hit. Though, I did try to stick relatively close to the drums on the album. There are some cymbal accents and snare accents that I played differently from the album.

All of the drums are natural. I did my best to filter out the drums in the original track! I did leave some of the drums in though because it helped attribute my drum mix. Im really happy with how this mix turned out!

The camera I use for my left shoulder view is a bit weird. If I record a clip for longer than 11 minutes, it will start to split up the files (which is normal, and common amongst other cameras). Whats weird is that no matter how many times I rendered the clips as one video file, it would still glitch/jump where the video files were split. Im not sure if this is the camera, or the program I am using the bounce all of the separated clips into one long video file! It happens at around 4:14. The video jolts a bit because this was where the file was split when recorded.

When I got home from tour, I didn't have any cymbals left... I went to a store near me and purchased new crashes, hi-hats, and a china. They didn't have the china in stock, and I wanted to record this video as soon as possible. I was told the China would be shipped to me early this week, but I hadn't even received a tracking number (and it was mid week already)! So I bought an 18" Wuhan china from another store for the time being! It sounds decent mic'ed up... haha! And my crash that Im using for the top of my stack is just completely shredded. I close mic'ed both cymbals so I could bring them up in the mix.

Enjoy!!!

I cant believe that this precussionist god is getting significantly less views than Meital Cohen that gets millions of views for playing with a fake pair of boobs and playing Psychosocial by Slipknot, i am ashamed

solid. the drums in periphery are crazy inventive. never heard fills like that going over the bar and over a breakdown and they still make it sound in time and flowing. insane
