In 1969, Anthony Newley hosted this show called The Hollywood Palace. It featured songs all written by him and Leslie Bricusse, all sung on the show by Newley himself, and/or by one of the guests he lined-up for the evening. All women of course...

I didn't capture EVERYTHING from it. Just most of the parts involving Tony. No requests, please.

Newley performs his closing number, the ever popular, "What Kind of Fool Am I?" from Stop the World I Want to Get Off.

**I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS VIDEO. My only intention is to expose Mr. Newley to those who wish to see him. I will oblige any request to take this down.**

Saw him in Stop the World about 18 years after he premiered it. He was older and wiser, but in great voice. I was older and wiser myself. His interpretation that night just blew me away. One for the ages.

I don't understand how that person can say that Anthony Newley was not a great singer. He remains one of those unique stars whom no one else can copy and who still sends chills down the spines of his listeners when he performs one of his brilliant songs.

Really?! Are you kidding me? I guess how he became famous is by writing all those great songs that folks are still performing today! Hell, Feeling Good is sung by every rap, soul, rhythm and blues and country singer alive today! Oh, by the way, he only wrote is 49 years ago!

What possible pertinence does a comment like yours have? I can think of none whatsoever.

How can someone 'murder' a song he himself wrote? I will take Anthony Newley's interpretation of this or any of his own songs over yours, seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. How many million-selling hits have you written? Buh-bye.

There's nothing like having the privilege of hearing a great song sung by the writer him or herself. Wonderful performance (and loved the intro!)

He obviously became famous because some of us DO actually appreciate his talent and see what others may not. Your opinions are just that. OPINIONS, and a more tactful person would be courteous enough to keep their negative remarks to themselves. Live and let live. Don't bring others down for having different tastes than you do.

If I didn't love the Hollywood Palace and some of the beautiful ladies who turned up in this otherwise dreadful episode I wouldn't have watched it! The late but NOT so great Anthony Newley was a rotten singer. How he became famous is anybody's guess.
