This was in 2007. Unfortunately much water has passed under the bridge since then. Anna got married and had a baby and Rolando has had endless problems with his voice. I don't think we will see this magic again as I cannot think of another couple that can produce this much electricity. Even Netrebko with Erwin Schrott appears cold as ice.

Yes, I've both heard of, and heard, both Moffo and Flemming; very nice, but they don't have the "sumptuous" voice of Netrebko. The voice is basic; everything else is secondary.

Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazon are the best duo in opera today, and no couple come even close to bringing the magic of the human voice together in a perfect harmony, and they look like lovers. That is whay the best opera stars can bring to the stage. For pure vocals and looks, there is no one else!!!!!

Ever heard of Anna Moffo or Renee Fleming, to name but two giants among American sopranos? Both are vocally more accomplished and musically subtler in interpreting roles than Netrebko, although she has a sumptuous voice in the Russian tradition - and as someone said elsewhere, is a gold medal flirt on stage, which goes down immensely well with audiences - though it's nothing to do with any musical quality, obviously. Yes we all like her very much, but her musical achievement is another issue.
