Having sung this song well, by ashamedly copying very renowned singers, I must admit: This rendition is the most technically difficult and serious. No joke! It's gorgeous. Not for everyone, but the esssence and heart of jazz....

I love the way that she can play with the phrases of the song without breaking the rhythmn. That's a mark of a true professional.

1932March!! You are so right. Just as understanding and playing Classical music has nothing whatsoever to do with being European. Its' all about two things: Doing your "homework"(some call it years of study, or of practice, or of woodshedding, or rehearsing, and of listening). And something that u can't get at school: The feel for the type of music.

Apparently M. Maguire does not under stand that jazz and jazz singing has nothing to do Finns, Swedes, Latts, Irish or any other tribal group. It has to do with music.

U only have to look at the face of a typical Finn to see the difference between them and a swede.....a finn would have sharper features...swedes would be that bit refined and roundish face and body ...Renee Zellweger has major Finnish / Sami genes...look at her thin eyes and Squarish features ...typical of Samis ( Native people of North Scandanavia )

I think Finns are much more in bred than Swedes Just like Lithuanians and Irish to an extent due to not being in a main Migratory path ie geographically cut off .....and teh structure of there society is much ike the small time tribal communities in Ireland but worse in fact in Fianland and Latvia Lithuania...these people are also the most primative due to being oldest genetic european group like the Basques

As a multi-generational, native-born American citizen (of Finnish ancestry with a bit of German thrown in), I'd say the Finns (at least the Finns in my family) are much the same as the Swedes. To me, being quiet means I'm taking in what's going on around me and thoroughly enjoying a divine performance as much as someone who is hooting, stomping, whistling, etc. the entire time. Too many people seem to feel the need to act like they're wired on nothing but sugar (or methamphetamine) 24/7.

Read her autobiography. She was an amazing, but troubled star that faded too quickly.

Just a poor reproduction but that's one of the alltime great mics, Take if from Bruce Sweiden one of the living legends of recording engineers: " ...I LOVE MY ALTEC 21D MICROPHONES,They are FINE - AMERICAN MADE -Omni-directional microphones. Their low-end is remarkable!!! ..." The Altec Lansing 150 Coke Bottle Mics are great! I have many superb omni-directional microphones. Like my matched pair of B & K 4006's, for instance...
