yeah man... I used various versions of auto tune (also in quiet professional studios) and you have at least to be near the note if you want that the program fixes it. Plus the tone of his voice is completely different from studio to life... WTF!! Do the engineers change the amplitude of harmonics?? If you know what I mean!! :-)

In my opinion, Tom's voice started to change in 2002 when he started doing box car racer, trying to take off that strange but originally and amazingly perfect tone that stands out to tom in the beginning of his career. Medications didnt do anything in his voice, dont be silly.
