Sometimes I think the Upstarts' politics are very dodgy. I do not support the 1979 USSR incursion into Afghanistan, but think that unthinking support for the 'rebels' is simplistic. Many of these were Islamists with very reactionary views on any number of social questions and the USA was, as ever, in the background, looking for every opportunity to cause trouble and advance its interests. They really got stung in the arse with Bin Laden! Support the Afghan workers, not the mullahs!!

reading all the commentaries on this song... I mean holy shit. I think I will go back to reading mindless shit on the Exploited posts.... fuck the USWhatever Blah Blah Blah.... Actually, this is exactly the reason I am thankful for punk rock groups like Angelic Upstarts and Dead Kennedys for teaching me at age 17 in 1987 that there were these places called Afghanistan and El Salvador.....
