This is a total train wreck. Before all the haters begin attacking, let me explain. It's like watching a movie where the voice isn't sync'd correctly. I understand it's attributed to her phrasing, however, she's over done it to the point of it being completely distracting. Frank sinatra was the master of holding notes ever so long to make it his own. It's like she's screeching every note. There's no subtleties. Listen to Sarah Vaughan's version of this, the verve recordings. This has been noted as the, if not, the best rendition of the chart. I'm not an Amy Winehouse hater, I just think she's second rate. On this recording, her big band is top notch, kinda reminds me of the Tony Morello's big band out of Las Vegas. Someone mentioned that she sings messy, which makes her seem out of control. I completely agree. So, before the hate starts up, do me a favor, if I'm wrong, reply with a list of charts she performs and prove me wrong.

Amy was amazing. I think she could sing anything, but she used to sing in a messy way, she meant to improvise but ended up sounding not in control of it. But she was as gifted as anyone I can think of, so much soul and feeling!! It was just a matter of developing and practicing instead of getting into so many drugs. But she was brilliant, no doubt.
