It's a nice attempt at the song and I like the idea, but it didn't really get to me. Especially the chorus is boring this way... it's not that what you did in the chorus is bad, it just lacks some epicness. You might have used more percussion over the whole song, and you should've come up with some new melody in the chorus, played by brass instruments (french horn and trombone mostly make those background melodies epic as fuck). Otherwise keep going - as I said before: I like the idea.
