Le musicien britannique, Alvin Lee, leader des Ten Years After, est mort ce mercredi à l'âge de 68 ans, indique son site Internet. Selon le message laissé sur le site, il serait mort de complications après une opération chirurgicale. De son vrai nom, Graham Barnes, Alvin Lee a poursuivi une longue carrière dès le début des années 1960 au sein d'un groupe qui changera plusieurs fois de nom: les Jaybirds, puis Jaybird, les Blues Yard ensuite et enfin les Ten Years After. C'est dans les clubs d'Hambourg, en Allemagne, que le guitariste rock fait ses grands débuts, dans le sillage des Beatles. Puis viendront les clubs londoniens et le festival de Woodstock. Il quitte finalement les Ten Years After au début des années 1970 afin de se consacrer à une carrière solo, ponctuée de collaborations avec de grands noms du rock dont George Harrison, Mick Taylor ou encore Bo Diddley.
