Also, the Yamaha DX7 also didn't sound like that, and it didn't come out until 1984, years after this recording was made. (I owned one of those, too, and was always frustrated at how LITTLE it sounded like a real Rhodes. OK enough geeky keyboard history! Enjoy the record.

Yes, It's a Rhodes piano. The piano was a famous one-of-a kind from Leeds Rentals. It was modified by piano technician Eddie Reynolds... one of the best-sounding electric pianos in the world! I spent years trying to get mine to sound like that. No Polymoog ever got anything like that sound... it was an analog synth. (I used all these keyboards over the years.)

My understanding is that Alonzo was a client of Al's, during the time Al worked as a Rehabilitation Counselor. Alonzo later passed away, and this song is Al's dedication to him.

garbanzo declared that he must reach to the salad bowl forever! Hee-hee! I said this back in the 80s about when this song came out. I was about 7 years old.

This song's lyrics seems to have some religious analogies esp. Christianity. All Christian cherishes God and the majesty's house-'heaven'. And I came to know that once he counselled a man called 'Alonzo' and he was quite moved by him. That's why Al wrote this song.
