Sir Thomas Allen, Janice Watson and Timothy Robinson sing 'Come fill, fill, my good fellow' composed by Ludwig van Beethoven in his Folksong Arrangements, 25 Scottish Songs, Op. 108.

One of my favourite Allen songs...the jolliness in his singing is rather infectious!

Sir Thomas Allen, baritone

Janice Watson, soprano

Timothy Robinson, tenor

Malcolm Martineau, piano

Krysia Osostowicz, violin

Marieke Blankenstijn, cello

1997

Let me say that Mikhaylov's version in Russian is much more suitable to the ear than in English. Like it were made for that language instead.

I feel the same! Listening over and over again! If you want to hear more, listen to (search for) this: "Zagreb Chamber Music Festival: Smetana Piano Trio - 3rd mov." It has the same tempo, sad, angry and happy elements. For some reason I associate the two works. It's a different period though...

Thomas Allen is still my favourite British baritone, and he is in great voice here; however he and his chorus don't sound at all as though they are singing an Irish drinking song! It comes across as an appealing drawing room piece.
