LYRICS:

I never asked for more than just what I have

Now, what more can I do with that

I see this fall to come, it's crashing all around

No, I don't think that there's time to waste

The last time was simply a little taste

Now, I think it's just a matter of time

Wide awake, we step to the fall point

Never had thought I'd see this

Why, why, empire cannot last forever

Why, why, the best laid plans can all be cast aside

Why, empire cannot last forever

Why, why, the best laid plans can all be cast aside

Just because we all had our part to play

Doesn't guarantee us just one more day

We’ve seen the cost before, it’s far too much to pay

Desperate times require desperate measures now

Ask a free man and he'll show you how

Our fathers paved the way for us to lash out

Wide awake, we step to the fall point

Never had thought I'd see this

Why, why, empire cannot last forever

Why, why, the best laid plans can all be cast aside

Keynesianism, live the lie

Trapped in this prison, destroying lives

My stepdad is a lifetime fan of oldschool metal bands like metallica, pantera, rob zombie, etc... I should him some music by ATR, as well as Periphery, as well as a few others.... Lets just say, he was quite blown away by some of the newer stuff there is out there....

This song is about the US and how if it keeps going the way it’s headed the Founding Fathers have given is the way to fix it back the way it was supposed to be. Free man will lash out.

this song is one of my favorites. I love it. yeah it's not the same as songs like six or two weeks or any of their older tracks but it's definitely as good as the older ones. I love how they play different styles.

Fiat Empire. Research this. It's not about the song, but the message. Find the truth.

This song speaks to me. What if we can't last for ever? Who's to say this song is bad, it's the people who are incapable of deep cognitive thought that can't understand this song. It's not about a break up, it's not about that cute boy down the street. It's about yourself, ask yourself if you can not last for ever. Why?Why?

not sure why this made it on the worst metal songs of 15 list but I like it. if they were going to pick a song off of this album I would have to recommend no knock because no knock blows sack

The chorus reminds me of Michael Jackson's Human Nature...

I don't know if this is their best album or For We Are Many, both are amazing!

This song sounds like it could've been a B-side for Overcome. I don't get why everyone says that they've fallen. This band's first four albums all had different sounds, and now for the last 3 they've decided to stick with a sound that works for them, but is different than what other people may like or what they're used to. Some people need to stop being such an elitist about everything. Also gotta remember recording studios/producers kind of force a lot on the band as well, which is why bands will release a self-titled album years after and it ends up being completely different than what they released prior to that. Take Staind for example, after Break the Cycle they got really mellow, yet in 2011 they released a self titled album that was more like Dysfunction than anything.

This song made CKN's top 10 worse songs of 2015. How far ATR has fallen. At least Oli Herbert is still a beast.
