The encouragement not to cry is to not cry for the person who died, who is much better off. That's not the same as not crying for yourself, who now miss them. In fact, grieving is God's way of healing you. By all means, cry for your loss. But don't cry for the one who died (assuming they know the Lord, of course...otherwise you have much reason to cry for them).
