What Layne did to the band with his addiction is horrible.... However this guy, like anyone else cannot replace him. I don't think it's fair to do the old songs without Layne. I'm not saying this newer singer isn't good, but he ruins the classic AIC songs for me. Would give my left tit to bring Layne back and see him perform, but then bringing him back would bring along all of his pain he sings so strongly about..... :( I guess we are all moving on......

The way the people on here are bashing Duvall is insane. If you read the comments without watching the video you would think it was as bad as Phil Anselmo's, James Hetfield's, or Corey Taylor's version. Those were absolute garbage. Nobody really liked Phil's, James' was about 50/50 but the Corey fans were in awe of his performance, which, sorry, was terribly lacking. It goes to show that people get hung up on a singer really bad and can't release the thought of that one singer. Phil, James, and Corey are all top notch performers, but even they couldn't hold the torch to Layne either. Duvall actually tries to replicate Layne as best he can, while not as good as Layne, he still did a good job on this one. That's a tough guy to replace. I've enjoyed their latest albums and hopefully will continue to enjoy their future ones as well.

Ok as an Alice in Chains fan since I was younger I was super skeptical about Duvall because no one could touch Layne as far as being a good fit for the band, but I gave them a shot and even saw them in Tulsa last April and will be seeing them in Tulsa again in July. He isn't layne but he fits just fine!!

There's another generation out there now. Some 18 year old knows nothing about the original singer. But he goes to see this new guy and this is what he see's. He becomes a fan. There new stuff is a powerful as any hard rock band out there. They're holding there own with no problem. Do you think God Smack is better Or Disturbed? OrWhat about the Foo Fighters? I don't, those bands are more commercial successful lately. But overall I think Alice in chains is as good as ever for the new generation.

The new singer isn't that bad. Layne is dead because of his own doing. You all act as if a band member dies that the band should just stop. Majority of you that is complaining has never even been to their concert especially when Layne was still alive. Most of you only know them because of your parents, so stfu and enjoy the music cry babies

Lane couldn't sing 1 of the old songs if he was alive. Lane couldn't be Lane today. No fuckin way. And he sounded like shit at a lot of live shows at the end. He could barely talk in 2002. All he cared about was herion. Period. You "so-called" music fans should kiss Duvalls shoes for keeping this music alive. Seeing them in July. Stoked.

If Cantrell wanted to continue he should have just taken over vocals himself, even if he had lacked power and semi-sucked it would be better than getting this new guy in. This is like awful, the dude doesn't even fit the group. I can't believe him going over to the crowd to touch them as if he's layne staley or something like dude who cares about you.
