I know alot of people rip on william because hes not layne. That is not why I dislike him. I dislike him because hes a shit performer live. He cant hit the notes on alot of his songs live, almost just like Robert Plant from Zepp. BUT Plant at least gave it the extra inch during important performances and did hit the notes when he wanted to. Duvall just cant... If youre going to be in the band, be the same on the album as you are live, not sub par in concert.

Jerry Rules! R.I.P. Layne... but life goes on and that's what all of us should remember. This is obviously a different AliceInChains, but still I can see Jerry and Sean. I respect these guys and I think they still have even more potential than most of today's moody bands. People, don't try to compare Layne and William, enjoy Alice in Chains

Allow me to offer a compromise for both the William Duvall and Layne Staley camps. Layne was no doubt one-of-a-kind and extremely talented. Even though he is gone and another member has been added in his place, this does not mean that he has been completely replaced. The band did an excellent job of recruiting another guy and making the right adjustments as a band. But like in this song "...just another lesson lerrrned, yeah..." that's something Layne would have done. As a life-long fan of Alice in Chains, I can tell you that the spirit of Layne is still in their music and always will be. William does an awesome job in his role in the band, and both sides should be happy for this fact. It didn't have to end so well, that we still have bad-ass AIC jams to listen to. just my side of the cookie...
