Alexandr Desplat is the best. I love His music.

Much of the music in this film is from the classical repertoire - Preisner's Lacrymosa, Brahms' 4th Symphony, Smetana's Moldau...

Nice answer, but it was a joke. --' He also put some "(cont)", I saw them, I'm not blind :P I'm not so stupid, thank you.

Lol! He's adding some information to his speech, because he had no characters remaining for the comment. His speech was too long, therefor he replies to himself with the rest of his speech, so then it looks like one monologue instead of several pieces of information :P.

(con't)...and I didn't even mention "style." Stylistically speaking, the music definitely matches the performances and imagery. You can disagree with me, but I just feel that if it were more dissonant, or trying too hard to be something "different" slash NOT "mainstream"(really people? *frowns*) it would not be as successful in enhancing the story and what's being displayed on the screen.

(cont.)...The music should be enhancing the film, helping it tell the story or feel certain emotions, not distracting us or provoking us(unless you should be feeling provoked in a different way). If you give another listen to this "pathetic mainstream" music, I think you'll agree that it's not so "cheeseball melodic" like PLENTY of other films out there that it distracts or makes us go "ew" Thank you. #respectthedeservedlyrespected

Umm...for all of the haters who think this music is "mainstream?" I think you mean the brilliant simplicity of the melody lines and harmonics are paralleling the film perfectly? The film is simple yet beautiful in it's images and simple yet beautiful in it's poetry, I think that if the music were extremely complex and dissonant, this cinematic film would be an entirely different experience and wouldn't match the overall intentions behind the film.

Let's be honest! The soundtrack from The Thin Red Line, by Hans Zimmer, is better than this one. Althout we can find in Desplat 's work some fine compositions, the best songs from The Tree of Life are coming from Zbigniew Preisner ("Lacrimosa") and John Taverner ("Funeral Canticle").

Alexandre Desplat is the best composer out there right now. He needs to do more movies.

I once watched a movie called "The Thin red line" on a boring saturday evening ..all alone and was in a state of stupor for the next couple of days...I never knew about malick or about the film..thought it was just another war movie...that movie literally changed my view of life and death.

I love this kind of movies. I have came to hate the clasic crap where the story ends with everyone happy ever after. That is for morons. Life is, the most of the tim,e precisely the oposite of that.
